Naam Japo
Keep the Name on the breath. Remembrance is not an hour set aside — it is a thread carried through the ordinary day, under the noise, steady as a pulse.
Waheguru Ji
Wondrous Lord — spoken with love, and with respect
The Name
Not a description and not a title. A name said in wonder — and the small word of respect that never leaves its side.
Wonder itself, spoken as a name. Wahe is the gasp before words arrive; Guru is the light that moves a person from darkness into understanding. To say it is already to praise.
Love and respect, carried in a single syllable. It is never demanded and never left out — the difference between speaking about someone and speaking to them.
Mool Mantar
The opening verse of the Guru Granth Sahib, revealed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Before ritual, before rule — a description of the One.
Ik Onkar · Sat Naam · Karta Purakh
Nirbhau · Nirvair · Akaal Moorat
Ajooni · Saibhang · Gur Prasaad
One creator, whose name is truth.
Doer of all things, without fear, without hatred.
Beyond time, beyond birth and death, self-existent —
known by the grace of the Guru.
Three Pillars
Guru Nanak Dev Ji left three instructions, plain enough for anyone and demanding enough for a lifetime.
Keep the Name on the breath. Remembrance is not an hour set aside — it is a thread carried through the ordinary day, under the noise, steady as a pulse.
Earn honestly, by your own hands and effort. Work is not separate from worship. A life supported by fair labour is itself an offering.
Share before you take. What comes to you was never only yours — the measure of a household is what leaves it for someone who has less.
Living It
Service given without wanting to be seen giving it. The sweeping of a floor counts as much as the building of a hall.
Loving remembrance. Not recitation for its own sake, but attention turned gently and repeatedly toward the One.
The company you keep shapes what you become. Sit among those who are seeking, and the seeking becomes easier.
The free kitchen, open to every person. All seated on the same floor, at the same level, eating the same food — equality made edible.
Spirits that rise. Not forced cheer, but a stubborn, unbroken optimism that holds even when the news is bad.
The wellbeing of all. Every prayer ends by asking not for oneself, but for everyone — including those who would not ask for you.
The Gurus
Across two and a half centuries, ten teachers carried the same flame — each lighting the next, until the light was placed in the Word itself.
Ardas
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੀ ਕਲਾ
ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਸਰਬੱਤ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ
Nanak — with the Naam, may spirits ever rise;
and by Your will, may all people be blessed.
